Google Imagery
Illustration System
With their expanding suite of hardware devices, Google was faced with a problem. Each new product brought its own set of visual requirements, setup instructions, and a native representation of Google's look and feel. We were entrusted with the task of unifying the UI imagery across their hardware by distilling their core attributes into a flexible yet consistent visual language that could adapt to their expanding product line.
The first step was to define core design principles. This language, based on simplicity and abstraction, enabled us to represent their numerous devices, states, and symbols. Capitalizing on the on-screen format, animation was chosen as the most effective medium for conveying UI concepts, system explanations, and device usage instructions.
